So I was asked by the designer of the pattern I used for these socks if she could use my photo on the Ravelry page for the pattern. To which I replied, Cool! and also yes. She probably noticed me when she saw that of the six projects posted on Ravelry that use this pattern, I account for three.
The pattern is called worsted weight socks on 2 circulars, you can get it here: https://www.knotanotherhat.com/productDetail.cfm?product_id=1305 from Knot Another Hat.
It has everything I need as a beginner knitter. I wanted a pattern for 2 circular needles, because the prospect of dpns made me quake in fear. It called for yarn that's easy to work with - worsted fits that description.
Also, it doesn't make you shift stitches to knit in profile when you get to the gusset. You get to knit side to side for the whole sock! What a concept.
These are knitted using yarn I reclaimed from a sweater I picked up at the Goodwill, and then handpainted and steamed in the microwave. They really are kind of scratchy, but super thick and warm. I just wear them with a thin liner, and they are fine.
